Catholic Talent - art exhibition, poetry, music

Search for Poets, Artists, Musicians, Singers and other artistic and musical Talent in our Catholic community.

“At last I'm beginning to realize one of my dreams - that dream is to unlock the creative talents of young Catholics and draw them closer to Our Lord.”

We started with Catholic school poetry books, which involved me visiting different senior schools to hold a day's Faith Poetry Workshop for all the students and staff. Then it was over to the students to come up with the poems! As a result, we have published five school poetry books, featuring almost 2000 poems from approximately 1300 new Catholic poets from:
Richard Challoner School, New Malden - Salesian School, Chertsey - St Philomena Girls School, Carshalton - Towers Convent School, Upper Beeding - St Anselms Catholic School, Canterbury - St Edmunds, Dover

The books are self funding and any profit goes to school projects or to charity.

Music and CDs
We have encouraged musicians and composers to put music to some of the poems and then perform, produce, record and release CDs form these talented Catholic musicians. The first CD “God's Gift of Faith” from the Towers School has been released recently and many others are in production for release soon. For more information see Press Releases.

If you are a young Catholic songwriter musician or band performing your own Christian music material then contact us now, you could be in the studio recording your debut CD before you know it!

We have organised several art exhibitions one was a Young Catholic Students Art Exhibition - Edinburgh Festival 2009 and the others have been on the road ever since visiting parishes all over the UK. We now have a permanent exhibition at St John's Seminary, Wonersh, near Guildford.

The first “Young Catholics Art Exhibition” at the Edinburgh Arts Festival featured over 350 paintings by our young Catholic students from 15 schools including all those involved in the poetry book project plus:
Cardinal Newman, Coventry - Coloma Convent, Croydon - Holy Cross, New Malden - St Mary's Convent, Ascot - St Richards College, Bexhill - St Simon Stock, Maidstone - St Thomas Aquinas, Edinburgh.

Gerry's Vision

Gerry has a vision of creating a Catholic ‘industry' for Catholic artistic talent. He would like to create an environment where Catholic artistic talent is recognized within the Church and a career pathway is established so young talent is nurtured and grows within the Church. This exciting project is intended to enthuse students at school and encourage them to engage creatively with their Faith. A increasing flow of Catholic products would result in Catholic Artists becoming a major force in the massive Christian Music Market thereby retaining our young Catholic talent in the fold of the Church.

To achieve his vision, Gerry is asking for volunteers to help him. If you have an interest or experience in the arts, have some time to spare and would enjoy helping young Catholics, please contact him. Also, and most importantly, Gerry needs someone to help him manage these diverse projects, if you live near Kingston and have good administrative skills and WP experience, please talk to him as soon as possible. He needs you!
