Booking your ceremony

If you are having a civil marriage ceremony, you must contact the Superintendent Registrar at County Hall Hertford on 01992 555590. The details of the ceremony itself are planned with the Registrars and each couple can include music, readings and poetry.

A civil ceremony takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

The fee for a civil marriage ceremony is payable directly to the Registrars.

Booking your venue

Once you have agreed a date it is time to choose a venue. What better choice could you make than the romantic setting of Hertford Castle for the ceremony itself and the reception.

The flexibility at Hertford Castle means that the style of wedding is entirely up to you. Will the bride wear a long traditional white gown, cocktail dress or a period costume? Will Pachebel or Abba be playing as you take those important steps?
