The War Memorial

Hertford War MemorialThe site of Hertford War Memorial was originally purchased by Sir Edward Ernest Pearson of Brickendonbury Knight. In 1921, he and his wife gifted it to Hertford Council.

The Memorial features a bronze stag sculptured by Sir Edward Alfred Brisco Drury. The stag is set on a portland stone plinth designed by Mr Maurice Webb and Sir Aston Webb & Sons.

The base of the Memorial is inscribed with the names of those who died in World War I and II; some 564 men, and was refurbished in 2008.
