Pre-Site Surveys Pre-Site surveys prior to work commencement.
Using our bespoke MainsMAP software, First Intervention Technicians or client organisations can capture grid reference co-ordinates, photo images, traffic management requirements and site conditions on hand held Smartphones. Data is securely transferred and stored real-time to a website where authorised users can access the information and plan work.
Work in progress surveys real-time
Our highly trained, directly employed Technicians audit site conditions to monitor health and safety, quality or NRSWA non-compliances.
Examples: Overnight barrier checks, make-safe operations, compaction technique training
Post inspection surveys of completed works
FIL can provide objective assessment of reinstatement quality and site condition post works completion. Technicians will apply their assessment according to the Specification for Reinstatement of Openings in the Highway (SROH), Noticing requirements or the Client's own specification. Real-time data received by the client at this stage can prevent costly Section 74 overrun charges and Highway Authority defects.
Core sampling programmes
FIL is UKAS accredited and has carried out coring programmes for clients around the UK. Circa 50,000 core samples have been taken. Analysis of the bound bituminous layers of carriageways and footways is carried out in-house. Testing materials to the specification, which includes layer depth and air void percentage, assists clients in understanding the compliance of their reinstatement.
Web-based information systems
FIL has developed industry specific web-based software programs, “FILIS” and “MainsMAP”. These systems capture field data, grid reference co-ordinates and images real-time. This provides users in the office with an opportunity to act on quality or safety issues. Other benefits include the ability to plan work and analyse trends in performance using the tailored reporting suite. The website currently holds in excess of 1.2 million photos for clients.
Materials testing laboratory
FIL has an in-house UKAS accredited materials testing laboratory at its site in Redhill, Surrey. The lab specialises in quality control testing of bituminous materials, aggregates and soils used for utility reinstatements and construction projects.
